LIFEPROOF
The Evolution of Sustainability.
Lifeproof shaped by Human by Design.
Sustainability was never meant to be a checkbox. Nor a certificate. Nor a marketing layer. It was always the beginning of a deeper question:
Does what we create truly serve life?
A shift from reducing harm to generating vitality.
From circular economy to regenerative realities.
It asks us to design materials, models and systems for life to thrive across time.
This is sustainability matured.
This is design that protects what protects us.
This is Lifeproof.
“Lifeproof was born in November 2025, during an executive MBA program I led at Maastricht University School of Business & Economics. Throughout the sustainability module, I noticed various leaders from different industries sharing validated “sustainable” solutions with the MBA cohort. Many framed through the lens of the circular economy. Yet as their case studies unfolded, something became unmistakably clear: the baseline on which these solutions were built were questionable. Materials that were toxic or non-biocompatible were presented as sustainable simply because they could circulate.
Good people, sharp thinkers, and genuine intention were all present, but the core assumptions were off. This moment of recognition became the catalyst for Lifeproof: a design principle that goes beyond circularity and asks a deeper question: does this choice, material, or model truly serve life?”
